Latinos In Transit celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing Latinx emerging leaders and veterans from across the country. Sponsored by New Flyer of America, LIT presented "Juntos Podemos 2020" (Together We Can) virtual symposium on October 2, 2020. Featured speakers included Nuria Fernandez, APTA Board Chair and CEO of Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA); Alice N. Bravo, P.E., Director of Miami-Dade Transit; Carlos Braceras, Chair of the Transit Research Board and Executive Director of the Utah Department of Transportation; and Amanda Merck, MPH, Salud America! U.T. Health San Antonio.

Latinos face many transportation inequities. Years of unjust planning practices have cut them off from opportunities for health and wealth.
To promote transportation equity for healthier communities, our leaders must ensure that transportation policies and practices are inclusive of Latino needs, address existing disparities, and are responsibly evaluated and measured, according to expert recommendations in two new reports from Salud America! at UT Health San Antonio.
